COURSE CONTENT
The Avra Yoga 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training course offers a rich and comprehensive curriculum designed to provide a deep and thorough understanding of yoga. The course content covers the following key areas:
Techniques, Training, and Practice
• Asanas (Postures): Instruction and practice of 100+ yoga postures, including alignment, modifications, and variations
• Pranayama (Breathing Techniques): Teaching and practice of breath control techniques
• Meditation: Instruction and practice of meditation techniques
• Other Techniques: Includes chanting, mantras, and other traditional yoga technique
Anatomy and Physiology
• Physical Anatomy: Study of the body’s systems, organs, and structures, particularly the musculo-skeletal system
• Energy Anatomy: Understanding of subtle body anatomy, including chakras, nadis, and energy systems
• Application to Yoga: Practical application of anatomy and physiology principles in yoga practice
Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle, and Ethics for Yoga Teachers
• Yoga Philosophy: Study of key yoga texts, such as the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita
• Eight Limps: Study the eight limps path of Pattanjali
• Ethics: Ethical guidelines for yoga teachers, including the Yoga Alliance Code of Conduct
Teaching Methodology
• Communication Skills & Effective teaching methods
• Teaching Styles: Understanding Hatha and Vinyasa teaching styles
• Class Planning: Principles of designing yoga classes, including creating balanced and safe sequences
• Qualities of a Teacher: Developing the qualities and attributes necessary for effective teaching
• Adjustments: Learn how to help your students with their practice by verbal or non verbally adjusting them safely
Practice and Practicum
• Personal Practice: Elevate your yoga practice and techniques with every day practice under your teachers guidance
• Practice Teaching: Lead yoga classes and receive feedback from peers and trainers• Assisting and Adjusting: Hands-on adjustments and verbal cues to assist students
• Observation: Observe your teachers to understand effective teaching practices
• Feedback and Reflection: Reflecting on teaching experiences and integrating feedback for im-provement.
Elective Hours (10 Hours)
• Prenatal yoga: The Avra Yoga YTT includes 10 hours of prenatal yoga to help you understand the differences and challenges involved; however, this training is not intended for teaching, as that requires a separate YACEP training and certification.
